My (maybe?) unpopular opinion: Weight loss drugs are cheating and most people should cheat

Here me out: I’m on mounjaro. I’ve lost 20 points in 2 and a half months. Without being hungry. Or stressing. Or thinking about food. At all.

It’s fucking glorious.

I just go through my day and eat my normal food, but then I get full and stop. And im done. It’s a sensation I have never experienced before.

If going through labor with an epidural is cheating then so be it. You don’t need to be in agonizing pain. If mounjaro is cheating, awesome.

Don’t let anyone tell you that you need to struggle to lose weight or appreciate weight loss. These drugs are certainly not right for everyone but you don’t need to suffer.

Interested to hear what others think about this. Is is cheating? Do you care? Are you interested in these drugs? Are they the future?

How to know if you’ve lost too much?

F 27, 5ft 8, went from 220ish lbs to 134lbs in 2 years.

I’m happy to maintain my current weight, but it seems like my body doesn’t want to. I’m struggling to know if my symptoms are an indication that I’ve lost too much? I don’t want to put on weight thinking it’ll solve these issues if it’s not necessary.

Just wondering if anyone has had experience with these symptoms during their weight loss, and if/how they resolved them?

Symptoms: 1. No period for 11 months (had 2 blood tests, Dr said it’s likely due to weight loss and to see if it comes back on its own in the next 4-6 months) 2. Low vitamin D (doc prescribed supplements) 3. Low folate (just found this out - I’m confused though as I eat lots of leafy greens and broccoli)

Exercise: 30-45 mins of weights 3x a week 10k steps everyday 20 mins of yoga 3x a week

Diet: Pretty balanced. Around 1600-2000 calories a day, sometimes a lot more if it’s takeout which I’ll have once every 10 days or so? I prioritise protein & lately more fats.

I realise only medical professionals and gaining some weight can give me definitive answers but any experiences or advice would be much appreciated!

I can't actually recommend it as a weight loss technique, but I have to admit, the flu is pretty darn effective.

So I'm a 5'10 male who weighed a bit over 170 at my lowest, but over the years weight kind of crept on and peaked last year at about 210. I was not happy with this, and over several months last year and early this year I worked my way down to about 190 with more focus on my exercise and trying to eat better. But then I plateaued and couldn't get below 190 - 191. Then I started creeping back up again. On Dec. 1, I weighed 198.8. I was not happy.

Then I got the flu. Yay.

It's been a full week of coughing, hacking up disgusting gobs of phlegm, lying in bed with spiking fevers, and bouts of uncontrollable shivering. It sucks. Get your flu shots, kids. I dicked around this year and never actually got around to it, and I'm paying the price.

On the other hand, it's been a week of eating pretty much nothing except the occasional piece of toast and drinking my wife's Gatorade. (I don't usually like the stuff, but it's kind of hitting the spot right now, and it seems to be helping me keep hydrated. The first few days I just couldn't get enough water into me.)

And this morning, I decided to weigh in again - at 188.7. That's a full 10.1 lbs of flu-related weight loss.

Clearly this is a one-off. Not something I could, or trust me, would want to, do again (seriously, get your flu shots if you haven't already), but I'm worried that when I get better, I'm going to start spiking back up again to my previous plateau or, even worse, back up to the full 198 or so. Anyone successfully held on to sudden illness-related weight loss like this?

Need advice on plateau.

Hey been losing about 2 lbs a week for a year and some change through diet changes. Went from 350-230 lbs. I am looking to get to 180lbs eventually. I seem to have hit a plateau where I bounce from 220-230.

A month ago I decided to add physical activity to my weight loss journey. Diet has stayed the same but my weight isn't changing. Clothes fit better I feel stronger. Can you guys give me any advice for pushing past this "plateau"?

I weighed myself this morning. From 80kg on Nov 1 to 75kg today

I was not supposed to weigh myself this morning because I had planned to weigh myself only once a week.

But I woke up this morning feeling lightweight; so I decided to step into the scale. And guess what, I'm at the 75kg mark already. I've lost 5 kilos which is equivalent to almost 11 pounds over the course of my progress.

Eventually, I still have a long way to go because my goal weight is around 55kg-50kg. And as expected in any weight loss, I might hit plateau in the middle of the progress so I wanna be positive when that time happens.

For the past 5 weeks of working out, I do at least strength training 2x a week, cardio 2x week, full body workout (combo of cardio and strength) 1x a week and do some HIIT when I couldn't find the time to go to the gym. But you know what, getting a rest the day after your workout is just as important as exercising.

I'm not really strict when it comes to the food I consume, but as long as I drink lots of water and avoid carbonated drinks, alcohol, fast food and sweets, I think I'm good to go. But still, I'll try to improve my eating habits for better results.

That's it for now. The first month was not easy at all for me, but you just gotta be patient and trust the process.

Let's keep moving and drink lots of water!

I'll post another update when I finally hit the 70kg mark.

Any recs and suggestions to improve my weight loss progress will be appreciated.

I just started my weight loss journey today!

I I am a 15 yr old girl and I’ve been overweight most of my life. Right now I’m about 230 lbs. I want to lose around 100 lbs. I’ve always made excuses and not followed through with weight loss. But today something finally clicked when I saw my ex-friend on tiktok. He was happy, and I still wasn’t after how he bullied me 2 years ago. So I asked myself why I couldn’t change as well. I need to be healthier and happier. I don’t want to be embarrassed in gym class. So I made a goal, I want to lose most of the weight by the end of the school year. I want to work out about 30mins-1 hour a day. I want to feel worthy of my true potential. I want to look at myself and not want to cry. I’ll probably try posting every 2 weeks or so to keep myself in track.

How to get back on track after a period of not working out

So last summer I started my weight loss journey and started to go to the gym. I was super consistent and ended up going everyday and losing around 50 pounds. Now I have fallen off of my gym routine and no matter what I do I cannot build up the motivation to get back to the gym even 3 times a week. I’m a busy college student with a pretty active part time job and I just never feel like hitting the gym or walking. Any tips?
