Scale hasn’t budged in a month…

Hi there! F24, 5’3”, SW: 195 CW: 193 GW: 160 here. I’ve been in a caloric deficit (accurately measuring and weighing everything), moving more than usual (a big walk once a week, some body weight workouts every once in a while) for around a month now and the scaled hasn’t budged at all. I noticed less bloating than usual but my measurements haven’t changed either. The 2lbs are from a few months before when I wasn’t giving my full effort and Im starting to lose hope. My biggest fear is trying as hard as I can and having nothing change. It’s a big reason I’ve quit before and I am so scared it’s going to happen again. It feels like unless I’m in an unhealthy deficit or workout constantly I just won’t lose the weight. Has anyone else experienced this or been in this position? Does the weight loss come eventually? I know slow and steady is the way to go and I’ll still be happy if I lose even 5lbs for year - but please tell me there is some hope :(

Weightloss tips while studying for entrance exams?

F,23, HW: 398lb, CW: 307.6lb , GW: 170lb

Hi loseit friends. I will be starting to study for my entrance exam for dental school. Its very similar to the MCAT and I will be allocating 6 months to studying for it. To give context, I took this exam a year ago and studied for 4 months but during that time, I sat for 8 hours a day, ate like crap, was depressed and stressed, zero exercise, gained like 20lb, in conclusion miserable both mentally and physically.

So this time I have decided to study 6 months, and instead of studying all day, just study 4-5 hours so I can have time to also focus on my weight loss and life in general. I work out 5 times a week and eat at a 1750 calorie deficit. I wanted to see if anyone has some tips to lose weight while being a student. Im not on campus to have the "walk to class" opportunity. I know I should get up every so often to walk around and take a break. Maybe run up and down the stairs, etc. But Im the type of person who needs to focus and when Im in the study zone, its hard to get back into it once broken. I wanted to get one of those adjustable standing desks but they are kind of expensive and not worth only 6 months. I also already have a nice desk. So any tips or advice? I dont want this to be the downfall of of my weight loss journey or stall my progress. I already have a hard time losing weight with the activity level I currently have lol.

5 Tips to Plan a Diet-Friendly Backyard Picnic

Celebrate Labor Day and say farewell to summer with a fun backyard cookout! 1. Load some veggies on that grill.

grilled vegetables

Even veggie haters find grilled vegetables to be irresistible. That’s probably because this particular cooking method brings out their inherent sweetness. Slice up some onions, zucchini, eggplant, carrots and even cabbage “steaks,” then grill them up as a healthy side.

To keep your meal diet-friendly, load up half of your plate with veggies. Trending now: the carrot “hot dog.” Cook whole carrots on the grill and serve them on a whole wheat frankfurter bun with all the fixings. You can also use veggies in another way: in some grilled vegetable recipes, vegetables are layered between cubes of chicken, a firm fish like tuna or swordfish, shellfish such as shrimp or even lean beef. Vegetable kebabs can help you keep your meal balanced between higher calorie protein and lower calorie veggies with a fiber-friendly twist.

2. Make sides that are the star of the meal.

Forget the mayonnaise-laden potato salad, pasta salad and coleslaw that crowd every summer picnic table across the land. They’re as ho-hum as they are fattening. Instead, focus on some of the farm fresh produce that’s readily available this time of year.

Consider replacing slaw with a Zesty Cucumber and Dill Salad that takes minutes to prepare and can sit in the fridge for hours, just getting more and more savory the longer it marinates! You also don’t have to nix slaw completely from the menu—just liven up a cabbage-carrot mix with a dressing of low-sodium soy sauce, rice vinegar and peanut butter. This Spicy Peanut Slaw recipe supplies one PowerFuel and two Vegetables to your daily count.

Love pasta salad? Broccoli, bell pepper strips and cherry tomatoes turn a simple Creamy Pasta Salad (mixed with nonfat Greek yogurt instead of mayonnaise) into a work of art. Plus, it clocks in at only 228 calories per serving, even with the chopped turkey bacon added for crunch and protein. One serving counts as one SmartCarb, one PowerFuel and one Vegetable. You also don’t have to banish potato salad if you make it the Nutrisystem way, using reduced fat mayo, nonfat Greek yogurt or even a piquant vinaigrette. Think outside the summer picnic basket too: Eliminate half of the potatoes from the recipe and mix in turnips, cauliflower or parsnips. Add fun and flavorful ingredients like dill, green onions, chives or capers. Then throw in some of your favorite vegetables, like fresh peas, bell peppers or radishes for a flavorful bite. Make a healthier potato salad for your summer picnic with these five tips. >

3. Add Nutrisystem foods to the mix.

How good would your Nutrisystem Classic Hamburger or Grilled Chicken Sandwich taste if you made it on the grill? Yes. THAT good. You can also feel free to indulge in dessert with one of Nutrisystem’s sweet bars or bites. Click here to stock up! >

4. Plan active backyard fun and games.

The Leaf healthy summer picnic tips

Exercise off any excess calories from your summer picnic by planning outdoor activities for young and old. If you have enough yard, set up a volleyball or badminton net. Kids aren’t the only ones who can enjoy backyard games like tag, freeze tag or dodge ball, particularly if you incorporate water balloons into the fun. You can even do a riff on the egg-and-spoon relay race with filled water balloons and a wooden spoon. Throw Frisbees back and forth or set up a game of cornhole or horseshoes. Organize a post-picnic walk around the neighborhood or a nearby park.

5. Hydrate wisely.

While you can always turn to light beer and wine coolers to save some calories, don’t forget that studies have shown that alcohol can stimulate the appetite center of your brain and make you eat more, says the United Kingdom National Health Service.

Both wine and beer come in non-alcoholic versions. You can also whip up some delicious and satisfying “mocktails” that will wow your guests. Try a non-alcoholic Strawberry Daiquiri that combines fresh and frozen strawberries with water and lime juice in the blender. It’s only 55 calories per serving and counts as one SmartCarb on Nutrisystem. Find this mouthwatering non-alcoholic drink recipe and four more mocktails right here! >

Avoiding alcohol at your backyard picnic can help you avoid unnecessary calories. However, you can still enjoy alcohol in moderation on your Nutrisystem program. If you’d like to have a drink, check out this article on 10 Low Calorie Beers That Actually Taste Good! > You can also brush up on your Nutrisystem knowledge and learn more about alcohol on our program right here. >

Motivated you to lose weight?

One of my prime motivations to lose weight is I’m fatphobic, that fact that I don’t like overweight people leads me to follow the direction of weight loss, while I would never make fun of someone for it because it’s never fun to be scrutinized for your weight, I can’t help but have negative thoughts when I see someone majorly overweight completely devouring a gallon of ice cream or 4 plates of food, while a lot of us used to be that person, I don’t like thinking like this. I hated myself when I was at that point of no self control and I feel it has formed into something toxic, has anyone else had this? I don’t like my mindset.

Soo... I just got cat called?

I have been fighting with weight for the last 5 years since a chronic metabolic condition has broken out. I finally got it under control and managed to lose 13 kg in the last 13 months.

The condition makes weight loss extremely difficult, so I follow a strict diet and exercise plan and my colleagues lose like a kg a week and I am lucky to lose one a month. It's really hard on the motivational level.

Anyways, a friend has bought a couple clothes for "herself" and "accidentally" ordered them to small in size (I haven't bought something new clothes wise for 5 years, except to replace something old or if I can't physically fit into something) so I guess this was her way to show me a actual lost weight because everything was a size smaller than I would usually wear and it all fit me really well. I picked out a crop top and very high rise leg wear that is super lose. They look so good together and on me.

Anyways I went out with my new clothes today to walk my dog and on the way home I walked passed a group of like 50 + year old men and they were whistling and making kissy faces. I looked around for the poor lady that was on the receiving end of this. There was no one. It was me. They were cat calling me.

So I guess I am thin and pretty enough again to be sexually harassed? Not sure how to feel about that.

Did weight loss also 'unlock' some memories for you guys as well? [Potential trigger topic]

Hello lovely folks of r/loseit !

I understand that this can be a very sensitive topic but I'd like to talk about this anyway.

Over the course of the past year of me losing a substantial amount of weight I every now and then experienced flashbacks from the past. These flashbacks sometimes can make you re-live less significant situations like once I reduced the size of my love handles I suddenly remembered the feeling/situation when I was 17 and they showed up for the first time. But they can also unlock the memories of very significant moments from the past like remembering the feeling of actual being comfortable in your own skin. For me it occured the first time this summer when we went on a vacation to see friends we haven't seen in a year and we spent a lot of time naked/in swimsuits (sauna, hot tub, pool and beach) and I felt amazing about my own body. Then it occured to me that last time I felt this good about my body was when I was 14 and I was skating every day. I could actually remember standing in front of my parents bath room mirror and thinking to myself 'dude you look pretty good'. It made me very sad to realize that I haven't actually felt good about my body for about 15 years...

So yeah I'm super curious how many hidden memories more there still are left for me to unlock by going further.

Have you experienced anything relatable? As stated in the beginning this is a sensitive and potentially triggering topic so please be civil and nice in your comments!

If there is anything weight loss has taught me, it’s that I don’t know my actual body.

This is a slight babbling of my thoughts. For context, I am a 5’2 F who has lost a little under 30 lbs and I have been obese my entire life, I have only just now noticed my weight loss and every time I do I am in awe at my own body.

It’s normally small things, like my toes looking less like little sausages and more like bony digits or my neck having feint lines/ a collarbone and a prominent jawline. My wrist has a tendon apparently and my arm actually has a noticeable elbow, normal body parts everyone has but I have never seen on myself till now.

My body is starting to feel foreign to me, sometimes I don’t see a change and other times I am hit by the difference all at once. Of course I am happy with the weight loss, and I’ll never go back, but I also wonder if I’ll still feel like me afterwards. Being obese is all I’ve seen myself as, I cannot physically imagine myself skinny and I have no idea what it feels like.

I suppose its a hesitance for the unknown and a grief that I truly have never known myself under all the fat. It makes me sad that I have had to deal with this for so long as a child and that being fat was my “normal”. I wish I had changed sooner and gotten to know myself better.
