Lost weight? And your now telling me staying on target get easier year by year...

I just came across this new post in my ergo-log newsletter that says “if you have lost weight your chance of a relapse decreases with every year you maintain your target weight.”

Lost weight? Staying on target gets easier by the year (ergo-log.net)

Oh really… since when??

This study was actually done a few years back at Brown Medical School where the researchers followed a group of 4000 successful dieters, and discovered that 20 percent of them managed to maintain their weight loss over time.

While this is still a minority, it is noticeably more than the zero percent mentioned in earlier studies.

The Brown research also show the chance of relapse becomes smaller, the longer you manage to maintain your target weight.

To my knowledge a rigorous control over average calorie intake is the only thing working between holding steady and gaining it back, and that challenge remains formidable year after year.

I would love to come across one of those gifted souls and learn the secret … or is the secret not a secret? Are we talking about a well embedded habit that becomes second nature?

Has anyone in this group been able to maintain an early loss in weight reduction going forward over the long haul?

If so, how did you do it ???
