i officially started my weight loss journey a little over a month ago and i have to say, it’s going pretty well! i really thought i was a binge eater but i never thought i’d have this much self control and have honestly surprised myself. i’ve lost 10 lbs on just a deficit (living sedentary) and do plan on hitting the gym soon! but here’s the thing i’m worried about,
i know that i could eventually plateau and i really want to do my best to avoid it or have some kind of info to help me get over it if i ever hit it and to keep myself from getting discouraged. i ended up coming across a video of a women explaining calorie cycling and how she’d recommend eating at your deficit for 2-3 weeks and then at your maintenance for 1-2 weeks to help not destroy your metabolism and to still keep your maintenance at that level instead of just lowering it as you lose weight. i wish i had found that video before i started my journey.
i really want to try it out but since i’ve been in a deficit for almost 2 months i’m pretty sure my maintenance has lowered so i have no idea where to start or how to go about it. my maintenance was 1931 cals and my current deficit is 1431 (i know it sounds very low but my meals tend to have a lot of volume and i do my absolute best to at least reach my deficit daily, i’ll even go 100-300 cals over 1 or 2 days out of the week).
any advice on how to find my new maintenance? i’m thinking i’ll just have to test out a new maintenance number myself for a week and see if i gain any weight but i really don’t want to gain :( but at the same time i’m starting to think it’s my only option.
