9 weeks, twenty pounds?

Hey all. Two years ago, my husband and I excitedly planned our 9th anniversary trip to Boston. At the time, I was in the best shape of my life and doing karate, Spartan race training, and multiple runs per week. Then Covid happened and I lost most of my exercise opportunities, went through some "interesting" mental health ups and downs, and, to make a long story short, went from 135 to 160 pounds (32F, 5'6") over a year and a half. Plus, we had to cancel our trip.

Anyway, we've rescheduled and I really want to wear the t-shirts I bought for the trip last time (they're Fallout 4 themed and we are going to be there on October 23rd, which...never mind, it's not important). What matters is that I'd like to be able to comfortably wear things that have become a bit too snug.

I've bulked up a little bit in a good way this year, doing leg and upper-body workouts with dumbbells and one kettlebell at home, but most of the extra is fat. I've been running for the past month as well, aiming for a 5K or better 3X a week; my endurance is getting better, but I've not lost any weight since I tend to eat more after a workout. Fitness is one thing, but I know when it comes to weight loss, it's going to be about diet.

So I'm going to try to get to 140 by the time our plane takes off on October 19th, using portion control and cutting way back on sweets. If I only manage 15, or 10, or even 5 in that time, that's okay. Progress is progress. I want to see some of those muscles I've been building. :)
