Midpoint Celebration SW: 275 CW: 226 GW:175

Hi all,

I am just about at the half way point of my journey to lose 100 pounds that I started March 2020 and in celebration of that I wanted to share a couple thoughts and a formula for weight loss that I've been thinking about for a while.

Let's start with some thoughts: 1. Weight loss starts with a commitment from within. No one can make you stick to the plan but you. You might fail a couple times before you really stick to something, just remember failure isn't failure until you stop trying. So keep pushing. I suggest you buy a scale and weigh yourself regularly. Once you see the weight coming off you won't stop. If that doesn't work for you, find your motivator and live by it!

  1. The urge to eat a lot or not exercise will always be there. Don't give in. There are moments we face every day to do the easy thing or the hard thing. These moments last about a second, but they are critical to your weight loss and your happiness. I gained all my weight and went into a depression because I always gave in to the easy thing to do in those moments. If I was planning to exercise the next day I would wake up and do the easy thing and blow it off. If I was going to start to eat healthy, I would do the easy thing and give into my urges and go binge on McDonald's. These moments are life defining. If you learn to take advantage of these moments and choose to do what is hard instead of give in to what is easy, you will be successful in your weight loss goals. It's kind of like Nike's theme, just do it.

  2. If your a big person and starting your weight loss journey. Once you get started you will lose a ton of weight. The rate you are losing weight will not keep up throughout your journey. This is important to make sure you remember to keep your expectations resonsible

  3. make sure your having fun! If your all about weight loss 24/7 your probably gonna fail. It's too exhausting and we all need some fun. What I do is I take 1 day off a week where I don't care about food (I still eat responsibly and try to stay under 2,000 Cal's overall) and sometimes I drink a little with friends (drinks go into that 2,000 max Cal's).

  4. Weight loss is 80% diet 20% exercise (I know I'm preaching to the choir). But, if you want to get fit and be able to eat a little bit more or loss weight a little faster you gotta make sure you exercise.

  5. As this sub will always say CICO is king. And it is, but you will feel better and have more sustainable weight loss if you eat healthy real foods as well instead of getting you 1200 from junk food.

The Formula

So this is a little formula I came up with to explain how I lost my first 50 pounds. I don't know if it will help anyone, just wanted to share and see if you all have any critics

C1(CICO+Real food)+C2(exercise)= healthy sustainable weight loss

C1 = commiting to followg CICO (1200-1400 calories) 6 days a week and have 1 day a week where you can go up to 2,000

C2 = commiting to exercise 5-6 times a week. This could be a 30 min walk, a run, biking anything that gets your heart rate up for a little while

Let me know what you guys think. And thank you all. I am a long time lurker and the advice you have all given me has gotten me to where I am now. Just trying to share the wealth from my journey so far!

Keep up the good work losers!

(That's supposed to be a pun)
