New scale leads to SV.

I’ve been on my weight loss journey for around two months. I started at 190.6 lbs which is the highest I have ever been. I won’t lie, seeing that number on the scale was shocking. I immediately buckled down, started reducing calories and doing IF. I’ve been steadily losing weight with only a few setbacks (a weekend of drinking sure can do that to you!) This morning I weighed in at about 172 lbs.

I just had a doctors appointment. I knew I would get weighed so I strategically wore my lightest clothes and vibram shoes so my weight would reflect as accurately as possible. I get on the scale, it’s in the mid 160s! No way is that correct. Is it?

I head to Target right after. I buy a new scale. I spend a little extra money for one with a glass top and some extra features. I get home and immediately take it out of the box and get on. 165.8. I move it all around my apartment like a psycho and test different spots on the floor. It fluctuates a little, but no more that .2-.4 lbs. The final test. I grab a 15 lb dumbbell. I put it on the new scale. 15 lbs. I put it on the old scale. 18.4 lbs.

My biggest goal was to get back inside the “normal” BMI range. I guess I’ve been there for a little while now (albeit still on the high side), and just had a liar for a scale telling me otherwise!

I’m now feeling extra motivated to get these last 20 lbs off. 😁

P.S. The Taylor Bamboo Scale is junk. Don’t buy it.

TL;DR My old scale was inaccurate and lead me to believe I was heavier than I actually was. Bought a new one and it turns out I’m back in the normal BMI range.
