Starting my weight loss journey - first major success

Here is my current stats:

Age: 24 Sex: Male Height: 5’ 11” SW: 247 lbs CW: 240.7 GW: 180

Background: I used to be in great shape back when I played sports but then I developed a blood clot and had to be put on blood thinners for the rest of my life due to a medical condition. This felt like it destroyed my life as I was no longer supposed to surf, play lacrosse or football, or do downhill mountain biking. I stopped exercising and went up to 220 lbs and then when covid hit I gained even more weight just sitting at home and hit my highest weight ever of 247.

Today: About 3 weeks ago I decided I had enough, I went out and bought weights, a Fitbit, and a road bike and trainer. I’ve been riding the trainer Monday - Friday for 20-30 minutes, lifting 3 times a week, and bring my dog on a 1.5-2.5 mile walk everyday. I also started tracking calorie intake. I’ve lost about 7 pounds and my body fat also dropped from 39% to 38.4%. I’ve changed my diet and I’m finally proud of myself again for doing what I know I needed to do.

I wanted to introduce myself to the community and hopefully with everyone’s support, I can get back to the old days of being in shape and healthy.

If anyone has any advice for me, I’d love to hear it. I’ve been focusing more on my calories than macros. I tend to eat mostly protein and fat with less carbs. I don’t know if that’s okay or not but it’s been working so far.

Thanks everyone and excited to share further progress in the future!
