Rethinking what it means to NOT diet

I'm losing weight at the moment with a calorie deficit of 400 – 500 calories a day, and it's going well. But I've had a painful sinus infection since yesterday, and I really feel unwell — so I'm pausing the diet until I'm better. However, that absolutely doesn't mean I'm overeating. I'm sticking with sensible portions of good food, aiming to keep to around 2000 calories, and just not actively trying to have a calorie deficit. In the past, I probably would have ordered in a load of junk food as a treat, but I really don't want to now. It's totally fine to pause the weight loss, but I see no reason to actively undo it. This is the approach I'll take when my diet ends too: maintaining with sensible portions and not eating a share size bag of Doritos because I'm sad and not dieting!
