Switching from calorie counting to just clean eating?

Thank you anyone who’s taking time to read this! It may be long

A little background - I started my weight loss journey in March of last year, and went from 170 lbs to 119 lbs by working out every single morning, walking, jogging, and of course carefully tracking my calories. I’ve surpassed my goal weight, but would love to stay the size that I am, and maybe see more definition in my muscles. My cal goal has been as low as 1400 and as high as 1700. Latley, it’s been 1700-1800.

I’ve had amazing results with calorie counting but I have a few issues with it. For one, it’s almost all that I think about, I’ve become quite obsessive. I don’t really enjoy food as much, because I feel bad if I eat too much calories or if I’m still hungry after a meal. I have a bad habit of “saving” a ton of calories for junk food, so I end up not eating healthy but still within my goal. I feel hungry all of the time these days & I feel a bit burnt out. SO— I’ve been reading up on clean eating, and I think it would be great for my mental & physical health to step back from counting and tracking everrryyything & instead focus on eating filling meals, with very little to no processed food .

Of course I’m scared that I’m going to lose progress. Assuming that I successfully start eating clean, over all stay active, and keep junk food as an only special occasions thing— could I be successful without counting calories ?
