holy crap I’m down 80 pounds and hit my goal weight

Today, I hit 120 pounds (54.5 kilograms). And close to my 16th birthday too, woohoo! That’s 80lbs (36.3kg) down from my starting weight of 200lbs (90.7kg) back in January 2021 and the lower part of my goal range of 120-125lbs. I’m aware that weight fluctuates, which is why I went with a range instead of just one number. Now my goal is maintenance… which feels weird to think about. I’ve been overweight/obese since elementary school, so the fact that I no longer need to lose weight is new to me. Not complaining though!

Portion control was always what I struggled the most. I loved food… just a little too much. Doctors told me to just cut out sugary drinks and sauces/dressings to lose weight - but I hated sugary drinks and always liked everything plain. I was confused until I realized just how much I was eating before. Also realized that a daily heaping peanut butter and jelly sandwich with a devil dog might not be the healthiest lunch. Had to work on my habit of snacking out of boredom as well. Now, I’m satisfied with smaller portions and less snacking! If I want a snack, I reach for something like fruit instead. I’ve also found out I like to cook and bake, so that’s helped with portion control and keeping meals healthier + interesting. I try to add vegetables to each meal. Food can be relatively healthy and tasty!

Ever since going back to school, I’ve had at least 5 people comment on my weight loss. Others have noticed too. Feels good but wow those conversations can get awkward fast.

Honestly the only downside is that absolutely nothing in my closet fits anymore. I had been borrowing some of my mom’s old clothes… until those got too big as well. But hey, that means it’s time to go clothes shopping!

also quick thanks to this subreddit, you guys are amazing! I posted here a couple times before moving to this account, and I might not have started trying to lose weight if I didn’t find this. Or if I did, I might have gone about it in an unhealthier way. So, thanks for being a helpful, supportive community!
