About a year ago I lost a significant amount of weight due to some digestive issues. Since then I’ve been stuck with constant food noise — my brain just never shuts up about food. Weirdly, it’s not junk food or sweets pulling at me, i don’t eat it and don’ really have cravings for it. It’s more like a nonstop background process running: what am I going to eat next, when am I going to eat, how much do I need to eat.
Part of it makes sense — because of my gut issues I have to be careful about what I eat, but on top of that I actually need to eat enough to put the weight back on, so I’m constantly having to think about food from both angles at once. Still, it’s been going on for almost a year now and it doesn’t seem to be settling down.
Has anyone else gone through something similar? Would appreciate any advice on how you managed to quiet it down, or even just hearing that it eventually fades.
