NSV: Doctor said I was the healthiest person he’s seen today.

This feels good. Went for my regular follow up doctor appointment today. I’m finally in the healthy weight range after 2 years of work. My doctor was going through my bloodwork which had all improved drastically and he said, “You’re the healthiest person I’ve seen today.”

What great motivation to keep it up. I’m trying to get a little more solidly in the healthy range but I’m not going to force anything if my body doesn’t want to go much lower (it’s been harder the last couple months). There was a flyer in the exam room for a 5K benefiting an organization that my doctor is on the board of. I plan on signing up for it!

Wishing everyone here continued success on their weight loss journeys!

How do you tell if its fat, or bloating??

(18F) hi! Ive never had a flat stomach before and im so so confused about if its fat or bloating. I feel like i wake up already bloated?? I grew up overweight, maxing 190lbs at 13, i lost a lot from ages 14-16 (60lbs, lowest was 130lbs) but wasnt able to maintain and ended up gaining 20lbs back, making my current weight around 150lbs at 5’7 last i checked. Im not overweight, im in the normal bmi range, but i feel id like to loose 15-20lbs… I dont have stomach rolls unless im sitting down. i can pinch maybe a handful of stomach, which i assume is fat? When i poke my tummy, it feels mostly hard with a little give. Im very active, and i use my abs a lot, so despite the bloat and/or fat, i can see some abdominal definition (not a six pack, obviously, but definitely some core)
I just feel like my stomach protrudes farther than just fat would make it, and i cant seem to figure out how to fix it :/ some days its better than others , but that might also be my body dysmorphia..
i eat a heathy diet. I dont eat refined sugar, gluten, meat, seed oils blahblahblah…. Mostly, my diet is vegetarian and consists of 0% greek yogurt, honey, peanut butter or pbfit depending on whats in the house, soy- mostly tofu, nori sheets, lots of fruit, protein powder, chia seeds, sometimes oats, occasionally hummus. Id say the majority of my diet is fruit and protein. I cant place which of these things could be making me bloat,,, and i already dont eat a lot of food items so i fear removing more could make me risk nutritional gaps. Ive tried removing dairy, but i worry about the low calcium. Im wondering if honey could be bloating me because i eat probably too much of it.
Or it could be just that i need to loose more weight? Which is a struggle mainly because i had amenorrhea for years due to under-eating and only recently got my period back, so im uncertain about weight loss since it could make me loose it again :( but i also feel so uncomfortable with my appearance and i just want to be in the 130 range again so idk what to do..

How long did the last 10 pounds take you?

5'9, 160#, F43.

I've made it to a healthy BMI.

But physically I'm still not quite where I want to be.

I have a very physical job, a decent amount of muscle, a solid frame.

But between 3 pregnancies and a 100#+ weight loss, I have some loose skin and still too much body fat in my upper arms, upper thighs and lower abdomen. The kind you can pinch and jiggle around.

I'm not looking into surgery until I know for sure this extra flab is permanently attached to me.

However, the rate of loss is now extremely slow. I lose a pound a month, if that.

I can't (and don't want to) eat less and what I do eat is generally healthy. High fiber, protein, very little processed foods or sugary junk. I work too hard physically to dive into a bigger deficit -- currently at around 500 calories below my sedentary TDEE not counting farm work.

My body is just hanging on to those last 5-10 pounds (?) for dear life.

Has that been the experience of others who lost a significant amount of weight?

Need an Opinion on my weight loss plan

So, i have had a chubby physique since puberty. before that i was petite. Anyway, so since puberty I've been trying to lose weight and honestly i was never consistent and i never did anything properly. I'll try diets, workouts, I'd walk but i was never consistent. So, now I'm 21F (soon will be 22) I want to really give it a serious go. But, I'm not sure if my plan is okay.

Hear me out. So, I've decided to keep my diet simple with only 2 meals a day including breakfast & dinner and no eating after 7:00PM. I don't want to stress too much about diet because I've noticed my patterns in past and i always give up if i find it hard. So, my meals will be simple including chapati with cooked vegetables and tea in the morning. I have my tea with milk and sugar. Tea is the only sugar I'm allowing myself. Other than this i plan to walk 10k steps everyday before midnight. I usually walk from 9-12 (i sleep around 1:00Am and wakeup by 12:00Pm)

Other than this I'm physically active in my daily routine.

So, my height is 5'3, current weight is 60Kg and my goal is to reach 50Kg. although my body fat is equally distributed and i feel every section of my physique is chubby but i also feel my upper body is bigger maybe that's because i have an inverted triangle body shape.. idk. but i feel that my upper body is heavier compared to lower. especially forearms and back. So, i want to lose that fat.(I want to lose weight in a healthy way so i don't end up gaining it again)

Now, i need some sort of professional or experienced opinion. With this plan and consistency, will i be able to achieve my goal? If so, how long do you think it'll take? Is my goal realistic? Do i need any changes?

And most importantly. Will i be able to change from chubby to toned physique?

Want to have a weight loss partner

Looking for someone who is also trying to lose weight and wants an accountability partner for the next 3–4 months.

I’m looking for someone who is genuinely serious about it. We can check in with each other daily, share whether we followed our diet/workout/steps, and just keep each other motivated and accountable.

No coaching or anything like that — just two people trying to stay consistent and reach their goals.

If you’re interested, feel free to DM me. Would prefer someone who is actually committed to doing this for the next few months.

Weight loss without a thyroid

Hey! I (F, 31) had thyroid cancer and a complete thyroidectomy when I was 16 years old, about 15 years ago. Since then I've had my weight yo-yo, from 120 lbs (although I was struggling with a bit of an ED at that point) up to 175 lbs at my heaviest. I'm down to about 160 lbs right now. I'm 5'3 and was never super active until about a year ago when I started swimming and lifting regularly. My goal is to be in a "healthy" BMI range, about 135-140 lbs.

My question is, for anyone (particularly AFAB people) who have had thyroid cancer or some sort of hypothyroid disease, how do you manage your weight maintenence? Have you had to adjust your levothyroxine dosage during weight loss? Do you feel your weight loss has been slower or more difficult than someone with a functioning thyroid? Thanks!

Confused by my TDEE

265 lbs (starting weight 274), 6’2” female, 26, sedentary due to bad arthritis but also doing my best to walk each day, usually 4-8k steps a day.

I’ve been using MyFitnessPal to track calories, and it is telling me to eat 1950 calories a day to lose 2 lbs a week. It usually ups me to around 2100 after walking (app is set to sedentary- I know not to eat these back). However I did my TDEE calculations using the calculators and got a maintenance of 2600 - so a 1000 calorie deficit would be 1600?

I’ve been eating in the 1400-1600 range (once I finish dinner I don’t eat more if I’m not hungry) and I seem to be losing weight slower than normal - I’ve been tracking for 30 days straight and have dropped 9 pounds and haven’t really had a drastic water weight loss, and I’ve heard that bigger people lose weight faster which hasn’t happened? But I got my 2 lbs a week? Idk if I’m doing this right or if my expectations are just too high 😂😂 I’m just scared of the possibility that I’ve been at this for a month and I’ve only lost water weight
