What to do when weight loss feels impossible.

I’ve been struggling with my weight for a long time, and the better part of the last decade has been spent trying to lose weight. In 2011, I dropped 20lbs in three months by eating too little and exercising too much, and it kind of ruined any semblance of a relationship with food I had built.

Since turning 30 last year, it feels like no matter what I do, the scale barely moves, and if I eat one not-super-healthy meal, it’s back to where I started. I try not to count calories, as I’m trying to do an 80/20 lifestyle, but I have been working with a personal trainer, working hard on my diet and managed to lose about 25lbs last year, and gained some back over the holidays, but that’s life.

Being that I started last year at my highest weight ever (252lbs), I thought I’d be further along.

Is this just something I need patience for now that I’m older and I’m doomed to feel frustrated, or should I be doing something else? Thank you in advance for your advice - this community inspires me a lot.
