Hi everyone! My wife is currently trying to lose weight. She’s 25F about 5’5” and 165 lbs. She’s been trying to lose weight for a while and it’s been difficult to say the least.
We started out by trying Keto and she actually lost quite a bit of weight on it. She made it to around 150 lbs. However, after doing it for several months we stopped because we heard the diet wasn’t sustainable and she not only gained the weight back but also put on extra.
Now she’s starting to try again and we’ve thrown the gym into the mix. She started to count calorie intake and she’s been very good about weighing out everything. We decided to try a form of intermittent fasting. The problem is that the weight loss has been SLOW. We’re talking maybe half a pound a week and that’s a good week.
I’m starting to worry for a couple of reasons. First, I think she may be starving herself. She’s eating 1200 (MFP defaulted to this for her) calories on days she isn’t fasting and 500 on days she is. Is this too little? We’ve gotten conflicting responses. Second, we’re both unsure where to go from here. It’s been at least a month and she’s been at 165lbs. All the resources online suggest cutting MORE calories to get over plateaus like this but she’s already eating so little that we’re not sure that’s the right course of action. I feel like there’s something fundamental that we’re not getting and I want to figure out what it is.
