As of the time of me writing this I'm currently at 119kg (approx 262lbs). Considering I started at 148kg (326lbs) I'm pretty happy with my progress so far, but it has slowed down. I go to the gym every morning for about 1 hour of exercise but one of the things that some people have mentioned is that I'm not getting enough protein in my diet. Thus I'm not really building muscle which would help me keep the weight loss going.
A friend of mine gets Protein supplements at cost so he's provided me with those which has helped me out. But I know I need to still eat more proper protein in my diet to help with other nutrients and just to keep healthier eating.
Here's the problem. I am on disability due to my spine and hip being pretty screwed up (that's how I got so heavy in the first place). Thus I don't have much income each month. It's hard to put together actually healthy balanced meals much of the time and meats tend to be on the expensive side.
I try to keep eggs in the house and some beans. But if I go by the suggested minimum of 0.8g of protein per kg of weight, I find I'm still coming up short of even that minimum amount since it looks like I should be consuming like 95g of protein per day (if I mathed that right).
What suggestions do you wonderful health nuts have for good ways to (hopefully cheaply) get some extra protein in your diet?
