Surviving the dreaded 1,000+ kcal boxed lunch!

Today I encountered my first boxed lunch since beginning my weight loss journey about 4 months ago. You know the kind... you're at a meeting or a conference. It's usually a big bready sandwich, dry enough to encourage smothering with the two mayo packets thrown in, an apple (if you're lucky), bag of chips, cookie, and a soda.

I knew ahead of time the lunches would be from Honey Baked Ham. In the world of boxed lunches, these are tasty ones. I looked on mfp for calorie info ahead of time. The turkey sandwich came in at 550 calories, ham sandwich at 600. I decided to make a dash for turkey. I indulged in a tiny bit of the honey mustard sauce (calories were notably absent from the package). I ate the dill pickle spear (4 calories). By un-luck of the draw, my box had doritos. Double the calories of the other seemingly random boxes that had baked bbq lays! I loooooove doritos, but I decided to skip the chips(240 cal) and the cookie (~280 cal). But that means that I have to sit through a WHOLE meeting before having an opportunity to get rid of my box. I stashed my box under my chair. I was so distracted by those damn doritos, but I kept strong!
Man, I remember before I was tracking CICO, I used to think these boxes were so stingy, and I might have gone through the drive thru on the way home for a snack. But now, I'm subsisting just fine on that turkey sandwich, thank you very much!
