65 days later, 20lbs lighter!

First of all, progress pics: https://imgur.com/gallery/doh1OPb

I never used to think about what I ate or why, indulging whenever I felt like it but also enjoying good home cooked meals or inadvertently doing intermittent fasting as a student. After graduation I slowly continued to gain until I hit my heaviest weight (around 170) last fall. I decided to take charge, downloaded MFP, and lost about 15 lbs before Christmas. Then I completely left calorie tracking behind and life took over. I think I continued to actually lose for a while..down to the 140s even, but then it got away from me, I was binging and just taking every excuse to treat myself.

In June of this year after a few months of feeling sluggish and slowly gaining, I found myself in a poorly lit change room at the mall. I was disappointed by item after item I tried on and looked at myself in the mirror and snapped this before picture. I felt gross but didn’t know what to do, and ate my feelings a bit. But it weighed on me for a few weeks, I kept thinking I’d get it under control “sometime soon” or “tomorrow” and lurked this subreddit and other similar ones. I was inspired but discourage that it might take forever, that I’d still be heavy tomorrow, that I’d still not have the body I wanted for summer. I’m a shorty and thought it might be a slow process.

But in July it clicked one day that regardless of how long the process (the important LIFESTYLE changing process) would take, I could stop CAUSING the damage immediately. That was one very immediate short-term goal I could meet – don’t eat too much anymore. Go from there. So I tracked immediately and for the next week, then worked in increasing the length of walks with my dog. Upped my water intake and saw a small wooosh of weight come off…and it has stuck!

Now I’m 20 lbs down, halfway to my goal weight 9 weeks into my journey, and this week 3 separate people have commented on my weight loss out of the blue. I’ve feeling better every day and just wanted to share my victory here on the sub that encourages me daily! I have plans to start a strength training routine in a couple of weeks but in the meantime I’m sticking to my calorie and walking goals and drinking this water! And I’m finally loving my body again.
