This may be obvious to some folks, but could be helpful for others struggling or feeling like they are a victim.
It's within my control to make it happen!
This has been the mantra I have been using for the past 3 weeks as I have embarked on my weight loss journey. I have always thought that my weight was something I didn't have any control over, it came down to bad genes, slow metabolism, and a multitude of other reasons that had nothing to do with my actions. It was the same way when I was diagnosed with PCOS. I was a victim of my circumstances. This has enabled me to continue feeling helpless, hopeless and downtrodden.
When I finally decided that it was time to make these changes in my life (to lose weight and be more active) I decided that I would write down my goals, how I can reach my goals, why it's important to me, and what I will do when I meet obstacles. This was a great idea because this eliminated the excuses that I would use (as I've used in the past). I thought about how I felt like a victim of bad genes, but I realized that I make the choices of what foods go into my body. I have control over the exercise I do. I have the power to change my actions. I have control over my weight loss.
It's within my control to make this happen!
