I got really into cardio and now I LOVE to run. It's better than most pleasures in life, I'd say. Been amazing for weight loss.
Weight lifting is something I've always had issues with. Dad was dumb when I was little and made me lift all of these weights and I hated it, so the subject of weights and being in a gym has always been very anxiety-inducing for me. But the confidence I've built from losing weight and seeing my appearance transform inspired me to face this fear. I've been meeting with a personal trainer for a month, twice per week. She's helping me learn techniques and ease into lifting. I was sore at first but got over it, and I've been giving 100% of myself in the gym.
Two main victories...
- I did push-ups today (which I've never been able to do), and not only did I do them properly but I got through them really quickly, and with minimal pain/grunting!
- I use an assisted pull-up machine. Basically, I put my knees on a platform that lifts me up, and we adjust the weight so I have to pull myself up more or less. Today was so much easier, I asked my trainer to add more weight!
One honorable mention from yesterday...
- A client stopped by my desk yesterday and told me I was beautiful. He was so sweet and kind. I've never been told that before. Seeing my body change has been SLOW, but amazing and so motivating. I think I'm actually attractive. It's still hard for me to believe this, but yesterday is a confidence boost that will sustain me for at least a couple of months!
We're going to make a plan so I can start lifting weights more often. I'm so proud - my hard work with my exercise and keeping track of my calories and macros is actually paying off!
Facing my fears has turned me into such a confident person, it's almost unbelievable. If I was to look at and/or speak to myself from two years ago, I wouldn't recognize myself. I like myself now. It's so crazy.
