Personal Challenge: 100 Zumba Classes!

Well hello there! Here is a little background.

In June of 2019 I read the book "Girl, Stop Apologizing" by Rachel Hollis. This is a very popular book so perhaps you have read it too. In fact, I read this book while I cruising parts of New England while on vacation. It was a great time, but I digress.

From this book, I took it upon myself to begin pursuing 1 goal at a time. In the past, I have pursued multiple goals at once, usually one of them being weight loss and another being a professional goal. However, after reading about the notion of going all in on 1 goal at a time, I discovery I had much greater success at meeting my goals.

Since applying this method toward reaching goals I have completed 3 huge goals I have set for myself that felt almost impossible only a few years ago. These goals were professional goals. The goals met include:

@ Complete instructional coaching certification.

@ Complete reading specialist certification.

@ Land a full-time reading specialist position for the 2021-22 school year.

Ever since implementing the idea of going all in on only 1 goal, I have achieved all three items listed above in about a year and a half. The two certifications were big and took a lot of time and work. Only a month ago, I was offered a position as a full-time reading specialist in my school district for this upcoming school year.

I am ready for my next goal. Even though weight-loss is something that would be good for my body, I would rather pursue a fitness goal as regular exercise has awesome emotional benefits. I have spent a lot of time on my career the past 2 years and want to apply this mentality towards a fitness goal.

What is it that I really want?

More energy.

I tend to get tired and sedentary often. I know that moving my body and getting regular exercise will help with this.

After much deliberation, here is my goal:

Complete 100 sessions of Zumba.

Why 100? It's a lofty goal that I know will take me a while and help me keep exercise as a regular habit.

Why Zumba? It is my favorite type of exercise and it can be done inside.

While I do enjoy walking, I live in Arizona and the weather is not always agreeable for walking.

Zumba is something I am able to do with group fitness, I can visit drop in classes, I also have Zumba for my Nintendo Wii as well as Zumba Burn It Up for my Nintendo Switch. Amazon Prime Video has a few Zumba videos and I could also find a Zumba class on Youtube. Many options!
I looked at a calendar and calculated it out. If I do Zumba roughly 5 times per week, I can make this goal by October. However....I am NOT placing a time limit on this goal. However long it takes is fine. I don't ever want to feel that I am failing because I do not meet my goal within a restricted time frame. Establishing the exercise habit and improved energy and overall mood is what I am wishing to gain!

I started this goal back on May 1st and I am already 6 classes in!

#94 more to go.

Wish me luck!
