I'm a non-traditional student, doing school part time and working part time. I just finished my first year back to college after dropping out 25 years ago (made the President's List, go me!). Now, I'm on my summer break for 15 weeks. I'm setting myself a short term weight loss goal to jumpstart my long journey. I'm 242 pounds right now (and only 5'1" tall) and wearing 3x in everything, and want to make my way down to wearing a large again, rather than plus sizes, eventually.
I want to lose this 25 pounds before school starts back in person in the fall, because I'm just really over how much I huff and puff when I walk up stairs, how I look, how much parts of me ache, how my clothes don't fit, and everything that goes along with being this size. I'm too old to be carrying around all this extra weight if I want to make it to 50!
I'm doing calorie counting at a 500-700 calorie deficit per day, upping my home cooking and vegetables vs. so many carbs and microwave food, doing yoga twice a week and meeting a modest step count each day. My steps and calories, I focus on making my weekly average goal rather than daily, so that I won't beat myself up daily if I miss a goal, I'll have plenty of time to make it up through the week.
I'm going to be focusing on building good habits and schedules over summer, so that when I start back to school in the fall and I'm busier, these new habits and schedules will fit into things and be routine by then.
I've tried a billion times before, so this time I have set myself an attainable short goal on purpose, hoping that will make this time a success rather than another attempt.
