Hi everyone, been lurking for the last year or so but thought I’d share my progress and methods. I’m a 22 year old male, I’ve been overweight my entire life but I’ve gone up and down quite a bit throughout high school. Since I was about 16 I was steadily gaining until I reached about 270lbs at 5’9”. On my 21st birthday I decided to make the change. I started with Keto for about 2 months. In this time I lost 20ish pounds but had terrible side effects. After quitting keto I immediately began counting my daily calories and shooting to eat 1500 daily. I also started going on daily walks (which have now turned to runs).
Nowadays I’m around 170lbs and exercise daily. Exercise is something I look forward to now. I shoot for about 1900 calories a day so I am still slowly losing. End goal is 165- but I don’t mind taking a while to get there.
It’s been a great year, I’m enjoying everything in life more. If you’re thinking about starting just start. I personally would recommend just starting with the calorie deficit, as Keto did not work well for me. But different methods work for different people.
