Am I oversimplifying weight loss?

I don't understand how people get all confused and start pushing a load of wierd psuedo science about something that is so straightforward.

CICO is it. Like what else is there to understand about how one loses weight? Eat less, move more. I don't get how people get suckered in to believing 'oh i shouldn't eat fats at this time, only eat simple carbs etc'

If you want to be healthy eat a balanced diet. If you want to loose weight eat less calories than you burn. The two can work separately or together. 1500 calories of coca cola is a god awful diet, but if it's under what your body burns daily, then you will lose weight. A diet full of vegetables and healthy fats and proteins is going to be good for your bodily functions, mental healthy and energy. If it's over your TDEE then you will put on weight. Also some foods are more filling for your appetite than others, like fatty foods opposed to sugary ones. But a calorie is a calorie. People have different metabolisms, so their bodies have different efficiency levels. But all that matters for your weight loss is being below your TDEE.

Really, how does anyone go further than this, how do people twist easy to understand science. It infuriates me that it still gets debated when the evidence is painfully clear.
