Skipping breakfast when counting calories

I don't know if this is more appropriate for intermittent fasting, because technically I am doing this. Essentially, I stop eating at around 8pm and I don't eat again until 12pm the next day. I heard from many sources, including the CICO app I use, that skipping breakfast is bad. One of the reasons being that you don't get energy for the day and there is a bigger chance you'll overeat later.

Has anyone else found this to be true, or what are your thoughts? Growing up I never ate breakfast. When I started my weight loss journey I started to eat it every day, but I quickly realized that left me with not very many dinner calories. That was kind of lame, and I often overate at dinner anyways because I enjoy dinner more than breakfast. I still lost weight though, but I'm plateauing and trying some different things to see if I can break the plateau. Just wondering if I'm going down the wrong path for that.

Thank you!
