Hormones... They can be tough !

Hi everyone ! I just wanted to share my experience about something we do not talk about much in this subreddit, it is the impact of contraception on weight loss. So here is the deal, I am a women of 30 years, 165 cm ( hum... 5'6 in feet I think) and I was really tired of gaining weight without knowing why and eating healthy (most of the time). I am kind of lucky because I do not have a sweet tooth and, in the meantime, unlucky because I'm french and, well, cheese. Anyway, I have been on the pill for about 10 years and did not ask myself about the effect it could have on my weight, until I reached 85kg (187lb) and told myself this was not possible anymore. So I tried something and switched to an intrauterine contraceptive device. This changed my life. It has been only one month, I already lost 4kg (8.8lb) without changing anything else. I still have 12-15 kg (26-33lb) to loose, yes, and I intend to begin CICO when my weight is stabilized. But still ! The changes ! I know that people might not be confortable talking about that, but for young women who do not want children right now, contraception plays a big role in their life, whether it is hormonal or not. If it is hormonal, please ask yourself if it is the right kind for you, as the weight gain might be linked, not directly to the hormones (it has not been scientifically proven) but probably to the more depressed state you are in, the hunger you have or the lesser interest in exercising you might feel. All of this disappeared when I switched to the IUCD : I am more joyful, more active and less hungry. Plus, libido is up, which can be appreciated ! Only downside, the periods are more abundant and more painful (at least the first ones) but I think it is worth it. Anyway, this is my story, I will keep you posted when I reach my goal weight :)
