Hey guys,
A little about me since this is my first time posting here:
22 Years Old, Male, 6'1" SW: 282 lbs, CW: 253.6 lbs, GW: 190 lbs
I've been on my journey since Jan 4th of this year and as of today I have lost 29 pounds. I have been practicing both OMAD and intermittent fasting. I do OMAD on work days and IF on my days off and shoot to do 30 minutes to an hour of cardio daily. I walk anywhere between 6000 and 10000 steps a day and I'm constantly on my feet at work. I also try to drink around 96 oz of water a day.
I've noticed that each week I seem to lose more and more weight which I thought would be the opposite. For example, my first week in early January of weight loss I lost 3 pounds firing on all cylinders to meet my goals. My last weigh in today I lost 7 pounds in a single week. Now, this past week has been rough. I've been sick, unmotivated and busy. I only did cardio once, haven't been drinking as much water as I was, and have been eating like crap. One might I went out to a burger place and had a burger and a ton of fries. The day after a large ham sub with extra mayo, the day after I had a party at my house and ate a bunch of food I didn't keep track of throughout the afternoon.
I was preparing myself to get on the scale today and see no progress due to my slacking off. My scale today even asked me if I was weighing myself like I normally do since it detected a "dramatic weight change" in just a week. I weighed myself again in a different part of the house, scale still said I somehow managed to lose 7 pounds in a week. I even tried using a completely different non-smart scale and yep, 7 pounds lost in 7 days. How is this so? I still managed to commit to OMAD and IF every day last week so some weight loss would of been no surprise, but 7 pounds in a single week? The most I lost in a week was 5 pounds and that was the week prior. My mother is a nutritionist at a hospital and told me it's simple science. I ate an average of more calories this week then the previous weeks and that I must of been eating too little the past couple months so now my body is no longer in starvation mode. I have seen countless posts on here debunking starvation mode and people straight up saying it is a myth to which my mother laughed and said I needed to look at the actual science instead of what random people say online. So, is starvation mode a myth or a fact? Is my dramatic weight loss in a week due to me eating more calories or something completely unrelated? What do you guys think?
