25/F, SW ~177 on 1/2/19, CW 153 (as of this morning)
I’ve been going about my weight loss for a few months now, and I’m definitely noticing changes! I’ve had family/friends tell me they see a difference as well, but they had all already known that I was trying to lose the weight.
This morning I came into work early, so I was the only person in my area. My boss stopped by to ask about something and then out of nowhere goes “what HAPPENED to you!?” I thought maybe I somehow missed a meeting, or she was referring to my allergy-ridden puffy eyeballs, but instead she continued “did you lose weight? You look like you lost 20 pounds or something.”
It took me by surprise - this is the first time someone who wasn’t “in” on my weight loss has asked me about it. On top of that, my boss is a very “strictly-business” person who has never asked me about anything unrelated to work, aside from the rare “how are you?” I couldn’t help but laugh because her random weight number was so close to what I’ve actually lost, so I confidently replied “actually yeah, I did!” and quickly explained that no, I don’t have a disease (we work in health, and there are some nasty bugs going around so I’ll give her a pass), I was just tracking calories and really enjoying spin classes.
I’ve been trying pretty hard to not rely so much on external validation, especially when it comes to my weight, but I must admit it felt really good to get feedback from someone else- even if it was from my boss, of all people. I’ve been plateauing for the past few weeks, and maybe this little happening will help me get past it? Haha
