Hey all!
I've lurked on this sub for a long time. I've been battling my weight for quite some time now. I used to be fit and thin in my early twenties but life happened and so did my weight gain. It started with the 15lbs after my daughter was born, then some more when my mom got cancer, then even more when she died. Then I started losing weight through the old weight watchers points plus system. Then in 2016 I started having major health issues. I started going blind in my left eye and I was having emotional issues. A trip to the eye dr, an MRI, and a Lumbar Puncture determined I have a rare neurological disorder that affects 1 in 100,000. I've had 17 lumbar puntures, brain surgery, and eye surgery now. I gained what I lost and even more. Now I need to lose 100 lbs.
I tried the Keto diet and followed it to the T because I had read it was a good diet for weight loss and neurological disorders. I was horribly ill on it. I almost needed an emergency lumbar puncture. I stuck with it for nearly 3 weeks using every tip and trick to try and make it work. I quit because it caused my intracranial pressure to rise and left me sick and in pain. I started counting calories. I use a digital scale and measure and record what I eat in myfitnesspal. I can't do any high intensity exercise as it causes pain and pressure in my head. I do walk some though. I haven't been losing weight like I thought. I fluctuate the same 10 lbs. I went to the Doctor and had my thyroid checked. Normal. He said if I am going to lose weight I need to do Keto. He handed me some handouts on it and sent me on my way.
I just need advice. I feel like I will never lose weight despite my efforts. I'm not sure I'm comfortable doing Keto again as it made me so sick. Please help. I'm just so sad and stuck. I miss being fit and healthy.
