I never did an introduction thread, so let me tell you a little about myself first. My name is Jon and I'm 38. I help manage a buffet restaurant on a college campus, we are setup similar to a Golden Corral and we don't charge employees for meals so you can imagine what my diet is like. Plus, my office is right next to the bakery so its not uncommon for me to stock up on sweets throughout the day.
About 15 years ago I did the Herbalife system and dropped over 100 pounds, but slowly put it all back on because I don't really change my eating habits. I had eye surgery a couple months ago and before I went in for that I had the dreaded dr's checkup, the surgeon didn't want to work on me unless my cardiologist gave the ok. Yeah, I should say I had a heart attack at 35 from overexertion and untreated high blood pressure. You would think that would have got me motivated to do something about my weight, but it didn't. When I went to the Dr for the checkup their scale only went to 350 and I maxxed it out so they had to ask me how much I weighed and I really had no idea.
I decided on the drive home that I was going to do something about my weight after I got through my surgery. I started reading up on all the new weight loss things going on and found that replacing meals with shakes to the level I did before was actually kind of dangerous. I read about Keto and CICO and intermittent fasting. It all sounds like it could work, but I wasn't sure what to do. I knew to get started I would need a scale. I used to keep a spreadsheet of my daily weight, I do best with a daily routine. In my search I discovered scales that could automatically save your weight and I discovered the Under Armor stuff and the MyFitnessPal app. I ended up buying a UA Healthbox and getting it all setup.
I started on July 31 at 358 lbs
I hit 333 about 3 weeks ago and have been stuck there. So I went back to researching to see what I may be doing wrong, and I'm not getting anywhere near my recommended calorie goals. The calculator on the sidebar says I should be at 3000 a day for maintenance and 2700 a day for weight loss, my actual has been like 1700 a day on average. I've been too focused on tracking my food and figuring out what I can eat that doens't have so much sodium and calories I lost site of how much I should be eating. I'm not sure of the best way to proceed.
