My First Mile

Hi everyone, I started my weight loss journey a little over 2 months ago and I am down 22 lbs.

I was always the fat kid in school and I very clearly remember the dread I was overcome with every time we had to run a mile in gym class. I could never do it. I would always say I twisted my ankle or had to use the bathroom or any other excuse to finish it early.

Well, two days ago, after walking/running on my new treadmill for about a month, I decided to see if I could run a mile at 5mph. This would be 12 minutes of running and I had only successfully run for 3 minutes before. But I gave it a shot.

And guess what. I DID IT! I literally jumped up and down on the treadmill with excitement when I saw that mile pass. I was sweating like crazy, but I didn't feel like I was going to die! I was so happy, I thought running a mile was going to be something I could never do!

As an added bonus, I didn't want to celebrate with food. I actually wanted to celebrate with an extra long stretching session. Middle school me would have never believed this.

But anyway, just wanted to share with some internet strangers and hopefully provide some inspiration for those trying to prove their younger selves wrong.
