How do people genuinely eat only 1200 calories a day?

F/5'8/215

My fiance and I are trying to lose some weight before our wedding in September. I've been doing Crossfit pretty regularly, but my eating isn't great so I recognized I need to dial it in.

Went over to MFP and plugged in 2 lbs per week for weight loss goal and it set my calories at 1200. Out of curiosity, I input all my food for tomorrow and with breakfast (overnight oats and a banana) and lunch (soup and a salad) plus snacks (green grapes, and carrots with 2T of hummus), I have nothing left for dinner. (chicken and Brussel sprouts)

I recognize that 1200 is certainly not reasonable for me and after an adjustment to 1 lb per week, my calories per day went up to 1500. I know I need that in order to not be gassed at Crossfit.

The thing is, I can't begin to know how to eat only 1200 calories and not be hungry. How do people do it?
