ISO personal anecdotes with thyroid/weight loss

Hi group! I joined this community with the goal of losing weight and hopefully making some friends along the way. I am 43(F) and figured it would be a good idea to see my general physician before I started to make sure I was in a good place to start dieting. He did an exam and also took blood for a general work up. To my surprise the results came back and my markers for thyroid hormone were super low and he started me on Thyroxine. My question is: has anyone here been in the same spot? Did your medication help you to balance out and start losing weight? If so, did you find it any easier or harder to shed the pounds?

I realize that people on here are not medical professional, but I would like to hear people’s personal experiences. Doctors are great at telling you how everything will work in a perfect world, but we all know that ain’t happenin’!
