What loose skin looks like after losing 250lbs+

Hey r/loseit fam!

I've been inspired by some recent loose skin posts and after much consideration have decided to post some of my own. The first reason being an exercise in taking myself out of my comfort zone, and the second reason as a reference point for those who are going through their own weight loss journeys and may be curious about what the end result could look like.

I've posted about my journey before, so here's a brief overview: I used to weigh over 400lbs and lost roughly 60-70% of my body weight through diet and exercise. I've never not be thin - I was even overweight in kindergarten photos of myself, so being a thin person is new to me. I've decided to focus on maintenance even though I'm still technically overweight for a few reasons: loose skin weighs a lot, I'm building muscle which can mask progress on the scale, and I have a decent body fat percentage (It was 27% last August but I anticipate it being even lower now - I plan on getting it checked again shortly)

Next week I have a consultation with a plastic surgeon about getting the skin removed, and hope to have it done in winter 2019/2020. I'm not going to lie, I am very self conscious about it and it keeps me from intimacy, so I'm very excited to have the surgery done and this weight (no pun intended) lifted off of my shoulders.

For those of you who are morbidly obese or overweight and worry about loose skin, however, loose skin is better than the alternative by a mile. Please don't let this keep you from achieving your weight loss goals because it is so worth it.

*Yes, I did put a sheet up to hide my messy ass desk lol. Small apartment living blues.
