Is the Whoosh effect even real?

I’ve been doing keto for the past couple months trying to lose some fat and weight. I’ve recently stalled on weight loss a bit staying the same for the last couple weeks.

In some other posts people say there’s a whoosh effect where you lose fat and the fat cells fill with water but eventually will shed the water in the cells as well and you’ll lose some weight.

Is this actually a thing? Are there any studies that show this actually is what’s happening to explain weight loss that slows and speeds up?

If anyone knows any studies that explain this can you link them in the comments?
